Question: How do I know where to place my box in my yard?
Answer: First of all, make sure you have 6-8 hours of sun. The closer to your house the more convenient
it will be to care for. Keep it away from large trees that might shade it or have roots that may interfere.
Question: What is the difference between using a wood bottom and a weed cloth?
Answer: We suggest a wood bottom for your box if you are placing it on a deck or cement patio, and
for easier portability. If you are putting your box over a former garden area or grass, weed cloth is
could be a better fit because it will allow for a deeper root system.
Question: Do you ship the wood bottom?
Answer: Unfortunately, we do not. We can only ship the weed cloth. However, you can attach a wood
bottom yourself with self-tapping screws.
Question: Do I need a grid for my box?
Answer: The grid is essential for visualizing the spacing needed to apply Square Foot Gardening
techniques. It will make the most of your box space and It also keeps your garden organized and
attractive.

Question: What is in your soil?
Answer: Mel's Mix. It consists of 3 equal parts of peat moss, vermiculite, and several different
composts; mushroom,dairy,fine soil conditioner(wood), poultry,and worm castings. The first two
ingredients will last indefinitely while the compost which breaks down naturally over time will need to
be replenished on an as-needed basis.
Question: Do you ship your soil?
Answer: While we would like to ship our soil, the cost of doing so is prohibitive. We will ship you the
instructions with your order on what type of soil you can buy at your local nursery.
